Mission Statment

The Whapmagoostui First Nation (“WFN”) is dedicated to promoting Eeyou culture, values and traditions in carrying out its objects. The objects of the WFN are to act as the local government on Category IA land, provide services and programs to members and residents, administer its land, buildings and assets and ensure the welfare of its members through good management, transparency and accountability. The WFN seeks to achieve economic and social prosperity for its people by fostering a way of life that reflects the Whapmagoostui Eeyou culture, values and traditions.

Employees of the WFN contribute to this mission by ensuring the highest quality of services and programs for members. Accomplishing this mission requires that the WFN work collaboratively with other entities and organizations for the benefit of the people. The WFN adheres to the principles of good governance which employees, councillors, consultants and committee members must keep in mind whenever performing their duties or interacting with members, the public or other entities and organizations.
